About conference

In the contemporary and progressively advanced world oriented toward the future, interdisciplinary and interactive scientific and specialized conferences represent an evident necessity and provide a suitable platform for presenting and disseminating scientific achievements and predictions, as well as for conducting intelligent, critical, and scholarly examinations of these achievements from various perspectives and viewpoints.

Accordingly, the Second International Conference on Religion, Culture, and Technology, building upon the first conference, offers another opportunity to draw the attention of elites, experts, managers, and policymakers in society to the cultural and religious dimensions of technology, with an emphasis on cyberspace and artificial intelligence. This conference seeks to address three key aspects related to technology:

  • The impacts and requirements of technology on the domains of religion and culture;
  • The strategic role and guiding position of religion and culture in the formation, development, and utilization of technology;
  • The capacities for institutions of religion and culture to benefit from technological potentials;

Given that this edition of the conference is dedicated to the theme of cyberspace and artificial intelligence, the conference's policy council aims to direct the production of content and scientific outputs toward cyberspace and artificial intelligence, in addition to addressing foundational and theoretical issues related to technology in principle.

On this basis, the permanent secretariat of the conference, established at Baqir al-Olum University and in collaboration with the University of Tehran and Sharif University of Technology, has initiated sustained efforts in response to the growing needs of society. These efforts are aimed at generating creative and innovative ideas in the field of interactions among religion, culture, and technology; preparing epistemological and theoretical grounds for the emergence of new sciences and the understanding of emerging techniques; and fostering the development of novel knowledge-based structures in the domain of rapidly advancing global technologies. This conference strives to facilitate interaction and exchange of experiences among domestic and international hawza (seminary) and university educational and research centers, and to promote theoretical, applied, and methodological convergence among experts from these centers. Ultimately, it aims to enhance the understanding of the relationship between religion, culture, and technology, thereby paving the way for a better future through more effective utilization of technological capacities and mitigation of religious, social, and cultural harms.

The conference's policy council believes that the event should not be confined to the stage of producing literature and scientific theories. Instead, it should create a platform for actors, activists, and policymakers in the technology domain—particularly emphasizing cyberspace and artificial intelligence—to engage in social action and impact. This includes assuming responsibility for problem-solving and addressing societal needs and challenges through pre-conference sessions, written productions in the form of books and articles, multimedia products, infrastructural, and software developments.
