The Second International Conference on Religion, Culture, and Technology is a distinguished and innovative event organized by Baqir al-Uloom University (PBUH), the University of Tehran, and Sharif University of Technology, in collaboration with prominent scientific and research institutions. This conference, scheduled from May 4 to 7, 2026 (corresponding to 14 to 17 Ordibehesht 1405 in the Persian calendar), in the holy city of Qom and the capital Tehran, provides a unique opportunity for the gathering of domestic and international elites, researchers, and policymakers to focus on the pivotal role of religion and culture in advancing cyber technologies, virtual spaces, and artificial intelligence.

The primary objective of this conference is to draw the attention of intellectual elites to the profound impacts of religion and culture on the field of emerging technologies. Key objectives include elucidating the guidelines and directives of the Supreme Leader regarding technological advancement and breaking knowledge boundaries, as well as shaping a software movement to achieve scientific authority in the future world of cyber technologies; assessing the capacities of Islamic wisdom and thought for a critical re-reading of conventional Western basic sciences philosophy and modern social sciences philosophy, aimed at redesigning the relationships between religion and culture in various forms of virtual space and artificial intelligence technologies; theorizing and feasibility studies on mechanisms for linking religion, culture, and humanities and social sciences with new digital, virtual, and artificial intelligence technologies; feasibility assessments for designing and producing cyber technologies based on religious foundations and tailored to the local conditions of societies and their impacts; elucidating the role of jurisprudential-legal and ethical issues in the technology domain to redesign the relationship between cyber technologies and society; strengthening the role of scientific-research centers in identifying and responding to societal needs in the field of technology; critically re-reading Western theories of the philosophy of the history of science and technology and comparing them with the philosophy of the history of science and technology in monotheistic religions, especially Islam, with an emphasis on cyber technologies and artificial intelligence; elucidating critiques and necessary reforms in science and cyber technology policymaking in the Islamic Republic of Iran; and social-cultural pathology of the construction, transmission, and dissemination of technology, along with proposing reformative solutions.
